THE OFFERING
Logline: A sidelined female detective in Tokyo works with a compromised FBI agent to stop a serial killer with a blood-curdling MO, after an American is found dead in Japan’s infamous suicide forest.
Yugo Nakamura is a half American and half Japanese writer, who grew up in Tokyo on a steady diet of Studio Ghibli, manga, and video games. After 14 years, his family abruptly moved to New York City just before Yugo started high school. There, film and TV is what helped him through the intense culture shock. Later in college, the film “Tokyo Story" moved him so deeply, it inspired Yugo to value his heritage and culture, even as he carried on with life in the US. He moved to LA in 2009, and worked in digital cinema, in distribution, and in postproduction before earning his MFA in screenwriting at the AFI Conservatory. His one-hour pilot, THE OFFERING, a cat-and-mouse crime thriller set in Tokyo and the infamous Suicide Forest, was selected for the 2021 Minority Report and CAPE New Writers Fellowships. Yugo currently has a project in development with Amazon and has co-written an episode of an upcoming Apple+ show, SUNNY. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, baby, and 2 cats. He is represented by FWRD MGMT and Verve.
