Programming, Qualifications, and Benefits

TheDiverso Fellowship takes all of the best features of our past initiatives and creating a bold new program to boost new writers. Co-launched with The Writers Guild Foundation, our goal is to empower the nextgenerationof statistically overlooked storytellers to change the face of the entertainment industry. This year’s program will run virtually for 10 weeks from June - August.

Fellows must be:

  • Must be a writer from a Minority Group (Racial Minorities, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, etc.)

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Winter 2025 graduates are eligible to apply.

  • Must be able to commit 20 hours a week to working on selected projects for the duration of the fellowship, attending all Fellowship panels and workshops.

  • Must submit a TV PilotorFeature Film Script to work on for the duration of the fellowship.

  • Engage in panels with studios and top industry professionals to learn and discuss different aspects of the entertainment industry.

  • Our Fellows are enabled to sit as a fly on the wall and observe the inner workings of a writers’ room--gaining exposure to spaces and professional etiquette that film school simply does not teach. Past rooms include shows from Disney+, AppleTV+, and The CW.

  • Each fellow will be paired with a mentor who is actively working in the entertainment industry. Their mentor will help them refine their script and advise them on how to transition from students to active working professionals.

  • At the conclusion of the Fellowship, Fellows will pitch their projects to agents, managers, and production company executives during Diverso’s annual Salon Night.

  • Our writers will workshop their scripts throughout the program, receiving notes from program mentors, Diverso team members, and other Fellows in their cohort. They will walk away from the Fellowship with a refined writing sample for staffing and representation consideration.

  • Diverso prides itself on our community! Our Diverso Fellows will be welcomed to the expanding network of team members, past fellows, and industry professionals that make Diverso great. Even after the 10-week fellowship concludes, our fellows will have a community of creatives to support them in breaking into the industry.
