Introduced in 2020, The Minority Report served as Diverso’s first initiative. Partnering with The Black List and United Talent Agency, it started out as a simple list of the best screenplays written by students from minority groups across the nation.

Eventually, it grew into a full fellowship program, giving diverse student screenwriters the opportunity to receive mentorship, access panels from industry leaders, refine their writing samples for staffing and representation, and connect with a vast network of people in entertainment to help jumpstart their career.

Over the fellowship’s 4-year course, it welcomed 17 fellows, supported by industry professionals like Dede Gardner (Co-President, PLAN B), Shaka King (JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH), and Boots Riley (SORRY TO BOTHER YOU).

The Minority Report hosted its last cohort in 2023, with the best parts of the program being consolidated into The Diverso Fellowship.

The Minority Report is an industry-vetted fellowship program for the top diverse screenwriters enrolled in undergraduate or graduate educational institutions. Made by students, for students, it's the first-ever initiative of its kind.

At DIVERSO, we believe that long-term, systemic change in Hollywood starts at the student level: providing underrepresented student groups with exposure, resources, and connections in Hollywood that they may not otherwise have access to.

We offer an extensive professional platform to break into entertainment by connecting our Minority Report Fellows with top companies/executives/mentors and providing individualized guidance and stipend for career development.

Submissions are collected from DIVERSO's network of 180+ Universities. Each script then goes through an extensive selection process. The top 12 scripts are judged by our Industry Jury members, who ultimately decide on the fellows.
