Tyler Sookralli
Fundraising Coordinator
The University of Chicago
Tyler Sookralli studies on the fiction track of creative writing at The University of Chicago. An Indo-Caribbean American writer hailing from Long Island, NY, he holds an incomparable love for narratives that incorporate ghosts, ethnic magic, and GOT-esque high fantasy landscapes. A National Scholastic Award Gold Key in Short Story recipient, Tyler's experience with ethnic oral storytelling informs his unique grasp on lyrical rhythm and melody. His work can be found in The Blue Marble Review, The WEIGHT Journal, Apparition Lit, and more, in addition to serving as a TV production intern for Billy Porter’s Incognegro Productions. In all of the stories he navigates, Tyler strives to break the mold, to challenge what defines speculative genres by incorporating cultural elements often overlooked in a Western sphere.
