Emerson College

Joan Ahrim Kwon is a Korean American artist studying at Emerson College as a Media Arts Production major with a minor in Anthropology and Sociology. Growing up as a child of immigrants alongside grazing cows and sprawling fields of corn in rural Missouri, she is drawn to stories that bare what it means to be human at the threshold of blended cultures. She currently serves on the Board of Emerson Asian Americans in Alliance (A.S.I.A.) and has collaborated on over 15 film productions, including her directorial debut short, PB&J. She spends her spare time working at Charles Street Supply, a quaint little hardware store in the heart of Boston, chatting with the interesting characters of her local community. Joan loves quirky stories, often musing on the moving philosophy of Pixar's Ratatouille—her absolute favorite film.
