MASS AVE
Logline: On the final day to accept his offer into a prestigious art school, a first-generation Sierra Leonean American struggles to tell his traditional immigrant father that he will not be attending medical school in pursuit of his passion.
After arriving in the US at the age of five from El Salvador, Jalmer became the first in his family to graduate from college and attained his MFA from AFI. He is a 2022 Alumnus of Lena Waithe’s Rising Voices Program and 2023 Alumnus of the LALIFF/Netflix Inclusion Fellowship. His AFI thesis film, MASS AVE--co-written with Diverso alumnus Omar S. Kamara--was acquired by HBO Max. His other screenplays have won placements at the Austin Film Festival Virtual Pitch Competition and the ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship.
