Haneol (John) Lee

Haneol (John) Lee or 이한얼 is an immigrant from South Korea. Lee is currently at student at Vanderbilt University studying Cinema and Media Arts. His work dives deep into the Korean-American identity and explores themes of the Asian-American diaspora such as generational trauma, language code switching, and forgiveness through a contemplative lens.

Lee's first short film FIRST NIGHT has been selected to screen at places such as Palm Springs International Shortfest, Cleveland International Film Festival, BFI Future Film Festival, and Boston Short Film Festival. He is a 2024 Short to Feature Lab alumnus led by Jim Cummings (THUNDER ROAD).

Lee is currently based in Nashville, TN, where he is developing his first feature film while submitting his second short EIGHTH DIMENSION to film festivals.
