An immigrant from South Korea, Haneol’s work explores themes of the Asian-American diaspora such as generational trauma, language code switching, and forgiveness through a contemplative lens. Currently a film major at Vanderbilt, Haneol’s debut short First Night screened at Palm Springs, Cleveland, Boston, and BFI Future Film Festival. He is a 2024 Short to Feature Lab Fellow led by Jim Cummings (Thunder Road).
